His passion is to see businesses in Zimbabwe and Africa embracing digital marketing.

Trust will be giving a talk titled “Getting value for work done as a WordPressor“.

Why did you decide to speak at WordCamp Harare?

I love sharing knowledge and experiences with people who can make use of it. Last year I shared about SEO at the WordCamp Harare 2016. Since then the people in the community have started learning and implementing SEO. That’s very fulfilling and I would love to do it again. That’s why I decided to take another opportunity.

What is your talk going to be about?

My topic is ‘How to get value for work’. One of the commonest question in the community is ‘how much should I charge for a project?’. In my nine years of experience in the digital creative space, I have learnt a few things I want to share with the community.

The frustrations of creative work is spending so much time working on something with all your heart only to get very little or nothing out of it. So I intend to answer the question ‘How can I can get value for the work I am doing for clients?’. Practical insights and suggestions on how to get that done.

For those who get services from the community, they will also learn how to detected manipulative charges and get value for their investment.

What is the one thing you want people to walk away with from your talk?

I would want people to learn how to place value on their work. This would help them determine how to charge clients clients accordingly.

How did you discover WordPress?

I discovered WordPress when via a friend. We had a challenge in handing over projects to clients once development was done. WordPress became handy. We could easily train our clients on how to manage the website. This reduced our support load quickly.

How has WordPress impacted you?

Knowledge of WordPress made me get jobs as website developer. When I was laid off from that job, I began freelancing doing the same work. This gave birth to Calmlock Web Design which has sustained me and my family all these years.

Recently I got a chance to get involved in the Google Digital Skills training. Using WordPress I created the Afrodigital.org website which has become an international resource for learning digital marketing. This simple website made using WordPress made a name for the in the Google Digital Skills Training program Africa wide.

What do you do when not working?

I am a Pastor at Lighthouse Chapel International – Loyalty House. I enjoy helping people in any way I can. In fact, one of the weaknesses I have is being overly helpful.
